interior design Wilmington NC

If you’re planning a renovation or redesign in Wilmington, NC, you probably have a lot of questions about how the interior design process works, and you’re not alone. At Lancaster Place Interiors, we’ve guided many homeowners through projects of every size, from single-room refreshes to full-home transformations, and have received many of the same questions from clients.

To make things easier for anyone considering hiring an interior designer in Wilmington or the surrounding coastal areas, we’ve rounded up our most frequently asked questions in one simple guide. Below, you’ll find clear, helpful answers about what you can expect when working with Lancaster Place Interiors. Whether you’re just beginning your design journey or preparing to start your next project, we hope this FAQ helps you feel informed, confident, and inspired.

  1. Will you use furniture and accessories I already have?

Of course! We love making use of treasures you already have in your home and usually can find ways to work them in.  Even if it means using them in another room you never thought of!  That said, we will be honest with you if we feel that a particular piece doesn’t fit our mutually agreed upon vision for your new dream space!

  1. How does ordering products or furniture work?

We usually recommend products that we trust, are of the highest quality, and are design-available only to the trade. In that case, we require payment in full before ordering, and you have peace of mind knowing we’ll handle every detail.  If you choose to shop for your own products based on our recommendations, you order and pay from your selected source.

  1. Is your team there for various installations (paint, wallpaper, carpentry, etc)?

We always drop by to see the quality of the product that is being executed. We are not there for the entirety. We request that yourself or someone else you trust be present to allow entry and exit by tradespeople.

  1. How many revisions is my project allowed?

We allow two revisions on your project, during the design presentation phase. Any requested changes after this point will incur our hourly design fee.

  1. Should I be browsing products, wallpapers, fabrics, etc. while Lancaster Place Interiors is conceptualizing my design plan?

If you happen to see a friend’s wallpaper or rug, and you love it, we are happy to source that for you! However, there are endless resources and products, and we want to use our trained eyes and experience to take that stress off your shoulders!

  1. Is it okay for other people in my household to contact LPI with design questions?

We prefer communication solely with the contract signer. It can become confusing and potentially add to billable hours if we are communicating with multiple parties with varying ideas. Make sure every stakeholder is on board prior to each communication with us.
